Nov 19, 2023: New artwork for the Open Window and Dirty Window!

Yes! We have updated the artwork for the Open Window and Dirty Window. Ottawa artist Sabine Elliott has done fantastic work on both pedals. If you have an original Open or Dirty Window, it has just become a collector's item! New or old, both have the same great circuits making these the best overdrive and distortion pedals in the world.

The new artwork versions are available exclusively at Mayfly Dealers. If you prefer the old artwork, I have made the remaining stock available on the
Mayfly Reverb page. But don't wait, I have less than ten of each!

July 6, 2023: The Twelfth Fret!

We are very pleased that the Twelfth Fret in Toronto has decided to become a Mayfly dealer. For over 40 years these guys have defined what it means to be a great guitar shop. You should go and check them out.

In addition, the Jellyfish Reverb has been officially launched. All our dealers have them, including the Twelfth Fret :)

June 2023: Steve's Music!

Yes! We are now in Steve's Music! But wait.... It's just the Ottawa store. If you live in Toronto or Montreal, your local Steve's does yet carry mayfly.
If that is your situation, I'm hoping you can do me a favour: Contact your local Steve's Music store and ask them to carry Mayfly pedals. Actually, bug them about it. Incessantly. Then do it again. And again!!! Mwhahahahah!! :)

June 2023: Mayfly (nearly) Launches Jellyfish Dual Reverb

Stacks Image 209
To be launched in July 2023!
This one took a very long time, but it was worth it. Ten months. Ten designs. Over a dozen prototypes. Last minute graphics changes. But now it's nearly ready. Yes we are perfectionists, but there is no point in half measures for something as important as reverb!
Read more on the Jelly Fish page.

June 2023: Goddess Reviewed in Vintage Guitar Magazine

Yep! The fine folks have reviewed the Goddess chorus pedal. And they really really liked it! One thing though: In the print versions of the magazine they got the price wrong. I suspect a mistake was made when converting from Canadian to US dollars. Fortunately they corrected this in the on-line review. Read what they said.

April 2023: Elmira Vintage Guitar show

I just got back from Elmira. It was great. Met a lot of cool people, saw some spectacular guitars, and showed Mayfly pedals to about 500 people. A good trip.

April 2023: Sketchy Zebra gets a makeover

By popular demand, we have dropped the Zebra's original large trapezoidal enclosure and moved to a smaller rectangular box. Same great circuit, same great sounds, but in a smaller, pedalboard friendly, package. To complete the look we switched to a more durable powder-coat finish and UV printed graphics.
The original spray-bombed and laser-engraved large format Zebras are now collector's items!

April, 2023: The Guitar Corner! Mayfly's latest dealer.

We are very happy to be joining forces with the Guitar Corner in Kitchener, Ontario! This is a milestone for us, because not only are the folks at the 'Corner super cool and knowledgeable, but they are also the first dealer outside of Ottawa. If you are in the area, check them out.

March, 2023: Mayfly launches the Goddess dual-chorus.

This pedal was a hard one; it took a long time to get right. I was trying to get a digital chorus pedal working for over a year, and all my prototypes sounded like crap. So I built a prototype that used the old-school bucket-brigade chips. Now that sounded great! But at the time those chips were completely unavailable.
But I lucked out: I found a supply of some NOS Panasonic chips. So the Goddess features the old-school analog circuitry for that glorious sound. Check out the Goddess. You'll be happy you did!

Jan 2023: MayFly's Flat Earth compressor is reviewed in Premier Guitar!

And they didn't hate it either! They rightly point out it's low noise and great performance, but forgot that it also works stellar on Bass Guitar. Check out the review.

Jan 2023: MayFly launches the Demon Girl fuzz

Yep we are on a roll. This pedal was actually in development for almost a year. We only recently got the approval from the test team and the artist (they are a picky bunch don't-cha-know). Sounds great, and looks great. I hope you agree!

Check it out on the Demon Girl page.

Dec 2022: MayFly launches the Le Canard envelope filter

Inspired by the envelope follower in the Flat Earth, or rather inspired by the REJECTED envelope follower that didn't make it into the Flat Earth :). Turns out that a circuit that's crap in one pedal is perfect for another. The Le Canard's envelope follower is very sensitive. This makes for a very expressive pedal. The filter jumps at the slightest touch of your right hand. It's really fun to play.

Check it out on the Le Canard page.

Nov 2022: MayFly launches the Flat Earth compressor

Wow! We hit a milestone with this one! A brand new compressor that's completely different from all others on the market. The flat earth has much better performance than other compressors because it uses a feed-forward design. Fun fact: when working on prototypes of this compressor, the beta testers (some of the best players in Ottawa) would refuse to give them back! I ended up selling the prototypes to these guys - who immediately threw away their old compressors. Figured I was on to something then. Check it out on the Flat Earth page.

Aug 2022: Welcome Cicada Sound!

We are very pleased to announce that Cicada sound has joined our growing list of dealers. Centred around synths and pedals, these guys have all the cool toys for making cool sounds. And now they have MayFly as well!

Aug 2022: We give the MayFly website a facelift.

It was a long time coming, but we've finally got the website re-done to better showcase our Guitar Pedal products. Now the guitar stuff is front and centre - as it should be!
In addition, we've improved the speed of the entire site. Slow loading of our pages, especially the initial page, should be a thing of the past.
Finally, we've got Lucas Haneman's wonderful youTube reviews of our pedals embedded on the product pages. Lucas is a great player and we're very happy that he likes our stuff.

June 2022: Mayfly launches the My Evil Twin!

Stacks Image 131
After a year of development, many prototypes and loads of time in front of the best guitar players in Ottawa, we finally launched the My Evil Twin delay. This pedal is our first delay, and we learned a lot. We managed to get that analog sound in a long delay, but keeping it pristine as possible. Not only that, but the foot-switchable modulation is a complete game changer. It's simply glorious. You have to try it to really believe how massive it can make your sound. And the artwork - some great work by local Ottawa artist Sabine Elliott, who really out-did herself this time. Read more about it on the My Evil Twin product page.
